The Federal Markets “Momentum” Research Group’s research project on the “Application of Competition Law in the Visegrad Countries” has been approved by the International Visegrad Found. The Research Group, established this year under the auspices of the HAS Centre for Social Sciences, will conduct the project in 2015 in cooperation with the Institute of Legal Studies of Polish Academy of Sciences, the Comenius University (Bratislava) and the Palacký University (Olomouc). The purpose of the research is to define and display the ‘Visegrad features’ of the application of competition law. Although substantive competition law has been largely “Europeanized”, procedural law comes, for the most part, under the autonomy of the Member States, and the thinking on their harmonisation has emerged only recently, making the procedural aspects of competition law’s application one of the most topical issues of European competition law. Since Central European legal systems share numerous similarities, the analysis and exchange of experiences will be mutually beneficial and will contribute to the current European debate, channelling the ‘Visegrad features’ in the European discourse.
